Waynesburg Historic Christmas Tour
Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful Historic Christmas Tour of our downtown
district included three homes and two historic churches. The day-long tour
began at 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 3:00 p.m.
Though it was a frigid 18 degrees, many visitors spent the day in Waynesburg.
Between visiting houses, our guests stopped by the cafes for a cup of coffee
or hot cocoa treat. Some opted for the magnificently restored Waynesburg
Theater and Opera House to watch a movie. Others fancied to shop at one of
our charming boutiques and novelty shops.
Smoke swirled from chimneys, and delicate snowflakes gently glided through
crisp air as visitors were warmly welcomed to homes and churches throughout
the town. The sounds, the smells, the joys of Christmas were everywhere!
A horse-drawn carriage transported patrons throughout the town. Christmas
carolers filled the steps of the county courthouse belting out old-time favorites
occasionally reaching a splendid crescendo.
A gigantic Christmas tree stood on the courthouse landing. Colored lights
sparkled, and ornaments dangled from their delicate cords. Delightful childhood
memories mingled with bygone days transported our guests back to a simpler
time; a time when yesterday was just a sweet memory and tomorrow was too
far away for concern.
This day is one of those special events.
It was a day, we all made memories that will last a lifetime.
